Ironhold Dominion: stop losing to your own supply lines

June 2, 2026 · Markus Lindqvist

Ironhold Dominion lost me three maps in a row before I understood that my enemy wasn't the AI — it was my own geography. The supply system is the heart of the game, and the tutorial gives it maybe one sentence.

Every structure you place draws resources through connected routes back to your capital. Stretch those routes too far and the flow slows to a trickle, which means your army and your repairs starve right when you need them. I kept building outward like it was a conquest game. Wrong instinct.

The fix is to grow in tight, connected clusters. Secure a region fully, build a forward depot, and only then push on. Depots act as relay points that keep supply strong further out. Once I started treating them as the backbone of expansion, raids stopped catching me defenseless.

There's a quiet satisfaction in a well-organized map here that I didn't expect from a mobile strategy game. Slow down, respect the logistics, and the AI suddenly feels very beatable.
